NO REGRETS

I give you an extraordinary image from photographer Carla Coulson's new book, CHASING A DREAM.
I am half Irish and Scottish but have never been able to pull off a kilt.
I have in my day worn lederhausen to clean a wealthy eccentric's upper East side penthouse but worst of all, I donned diapers and wings while serving Halston, Liza, Andy and Liz their "drink requests" at Studio 54 on Valentines Day.
No regrets. Humiliation has made me the man I am today.
I must admit I was a bit of a prude at a young age, I never lifted my kilt in the age of aids and still got illustration jobs from the connections. Better to get a contract than contract a disease as the morning sun bathed the awakening Manhattan skyline with her fresh clarity heralding yet another walk of shame.
I suppose I could have made a bigger artistic splash in the pan had I accepted every offer but then, let's face it, I would not be alive to write about it. Carla photographs a new generation, a bit wiser I hope, and the beat goes on.
Click on my Carla Coulson sidebar image to purchase her book, I gave them out as Christmas gifts this year, that season is over, be selfish, buy one for yourself.

Hi David I saw this wonderful image earlier before you added the text, I knew I had seen it before but I could not place it, at one point I thought it was you, there is a resemblance! But now you have added the text, of course I have seen it over at Carlas, I need my wrist slapping for not recognising Carlas work immediately. Chasing a dream is on my wish list, I will be converting it very soon.
I think it's a relief to all of us you never succumbed to the casting couch, cream always rises to the top in the end.

I have some good news David, remember my post about Billy Burton, the Thalidomide victim who has been incarcerated in a Philippine prison for the past 19 years. Thanks to every bodies help and support, including yours, he was pardoned by the President on 26th December, he is now in a holding centre and when all the paper work is sorted he will be going home to freedom in Britain.

David, Truth is ... very few men don't look good in a kilt. There is something about those hairy legs and that short pleated skirt lol ...
They are without doubt, sexy .. knobby knees and all. Wear one for a hour , then a day then you will feel good about it .
besos, from a girl whose grandfather was Scottish .. and a girl who likes men in skirts :D

Great photo! Very "kilt" manly of you! I really do love the kilt. I find it very culturally intriguing and very courageously fashionable at the same time! xo

I think that you are wearing that kilt very well indeed. And seeing as how I come from the land of the kilt, I am speaking with authority ;-)

Particularly like the shoes and the attitude!

lots of love

David, I see you are a new follower of my Paris blog. I stopped by to see your work and the first thing is this delightful kilted fellow. I knew I'd seen it before...of course, our dear Carla! I just had a nice café creme with her in Paris about a week ago. LOVE HER! Now I'll have a look around if you don't mind!
Come back to my blog any time.

Bon weekend,

Hi David - thank you so much for commenting on my blog, which got me to come to yours! Love, love your illustrations. And I am familiar with Carla's work as I'm a big fan of Vicki Archer, who has done books with Carla. The world is a big circle!

And finally, 2011 was one of my worst years as well, so salut to 2012!
