I am a complete loser when it comes to predicting Oscar winners, especially this year as I opted to stay home and read books. Please, feel free to leave your comments concerning best picture, actor, etc., I would like to know what I have missed. The above illustration was printed in Film Comment Magazine published by The Film Society of Lincoln Center. I ceased working for them on a regular freelance basis when the editor, Gavin Smith, sucker punched me in the stomach because I had the audacity to speak to a B level director at a New York Film Festival party held at Tavern on the Green. One cannot make these things up.
A socially inept academic, when given a little power, can be enormously cruel. While I am not excusing Mr. Smith's violent actions, I suspect peer rejection during his formative years played a major role in his present day illegal and ugly behavior.
The sad yet absurd point is that illustration work can be dangerous but do not live in fear, 99.9 percent of your clients will never use you as a punching bag.
I shall leave you with this serene photograph of Audrey Hepburn and Grace Kelly backstage at the 1956 Oscars, I am quite certain that neither was punched in the stomach during the evening's festivities.Photo courtesy of dailymail.co.uk

That story at ToTG is one of the reasons I left NY. Town full o' bitches, yo.
That picture of Grace and Audrey is just BEYOND gorgeous. I've never seen it before so it was just a punch in the stomach of beauty for me.
I adore your work, another great drawing
beautiful illustration!
His works are great!
As to what I think of the Oscar: "I make samba and love until later."
I'm sorry, but I see =)
oh love it :)!
Great illustration.
I don't give a rats a*se about airs and graces either, in fact I've been known to be overly friendly to those in power, calling them by their first name and being more touchy feely than appropriate!
Wow your work is extremely beautiful!! and just a thought but isn't physical assault over stepping some kind of "social boundry"?
seriously he punched u, like literally?
OMG!
Hey Bargain Hunter,
Good to hear from you. Yes, Gavin Smith hit me hard, I doubled over in pain, he knocked the wind out of me. I should have called the police but was afraid he would fire my friend who also worked for the magazine. This happened a few years ago and he eventually forced my friend out anyway, c'est la vie.
Moving on, everyone should enter this contest fast to win a Swarovsky crystal necklace designed by Matthew Williamson, it is a Paris Fashion week promotion and ends March 10.

Oh, man, I love your stuff.
I guess you had to have really elicited some strong emotions in the guy who punched you. Or maybe it was just his time of the month, eh?
